 Flint Glass For Sale Early Flint Glass began production in the U.S. around the 1820's and continued till about 1860 when the government asked the glass companies to stop using Red Lead in their glass. This type of lead was needed during the Civil War for muskets and cannons. By the 1880's most all companies had changed over completely to Lime Soda production.
