The items shown on the left is the rare "Swung Vase", and on the right is the Rose Bowl
that the vase was made from. In the middle is the Lady's Spittoon also made from the Rose Bowl.
The pattern was made beginning in 1901. The only advertisement for the vase shown is a Dugan ad dated 1908.
The photo below is the "Card Receiver" which was advertised in a G. Sommers catalog dated 1901. (See ad below)
Note: There is much confusion about Northwood and Dugan and who made what and when. Here's some
information that may help clear some of this up. Northwood originally made this pattern. It is shown
in an early 1901 National Glass Company advertisement. The caption reads: National Glass Company, Northwood Works
Factory 13. Harry was head of the National at that time but he didn't want to run the National and so turned it
over to Thomas Dugan in 1904. Many of Northwoods moulds were sent to the Dugan Plant and were continued to be
produced there in Opalescent colors. This pattern was one of them. In the advertisement shown below you will see
many patterns there made at the Dugan plant. This Dugan ad is the only ad that shows the very rare tall Swung Vase
made in 1908. This is the reason no Northwood signatures have ever been found on any Inverted Fan & Feather pieces.
As an additional bit of information, the covered Sugar Bowl is now known to be reproduced. See (Fakes & Repros).
