Jefferson Shield
The item shown is the very rare "Novelty Bowl". The crimps on the edges
can vary. They can be found with the Three-in-One crimp as shown on
"Hearts & Clubs", and with a crimp that is used on "Meander".
They can also be found with a "Plain" or "Pie Crust" edge.

Note: Below is the only ad printed showing items made in Opalescent glass
while Jefferson was located in Fallensbee W. Virginia c. 1907. I apologize for
the poor photo. Until a clearer image of the catalog can be found it's the best
I can do. Even so, the Shield design can be made out in the illustrations.
Northwood never acquired any of these molds. Notice the two different shapes
for the rare pattern Jefferson Shield shown in the middle row of the catalog.
On the left it's shown as a footed "Salad Bowl" and on the right is the
footed "Nut Bowl". Since this pattern was only made for one year or less explains
why it's so rare today.
