The item shown on the left is the "Card Receiver" and on the right is the "Rose Bowl".
Note the Leaf and Vine design are not present in the middle of the pieces. See the Jackson pattern.
This Card Receiver was made from the bottom of the Covered Sugar bowl. Northwood
made their very first Card Receiver in this pattern, and it was their biggest seller. It was
advertised as early as 1897 during the popular "Klondyke Gold Rush". They are very
common to find today because Northwood and Dugan made so many of them, and they are
still very popular among collectors. Some reference books mistakenly call the Card Receiver
shape a Whimsy. It is not a whimsy because this shape was commerically produced and sold.
Next is the "Covered Sugar" and "Creamer". This is a very collectible pattern today and pieces are
getting harder to find now.
Below is shown a true Whimsy. It was made from the Rose Bowl and the scallops are turned down.
This piece was truely made on a whim. This whimsey from the Rose Bowl is currently the only
one known to exist in this shape. Other items in this pattern are also getting hard to find.
Note: Be careful when buying this pattern. Several items in this pattern are currently being
reproduced by "Mosser". Their pieces will have a raised letter M pressed in the glass on the bottom.
