Opal Roses
This is one of the earliest known Opalescent novelties to be made in England. The pattern
is that of a climbing Rose Bush. This is an extremely rare handled Posy Vase, and quite
possibly the first time it's been shown in a photograph. It is illustrated in Sowerby Pattern Book IX, and it dates
to 1882. It may well have the English date lozenge pressed in the bottom. I've named this pattern Opal Roses
and am very pleased to be able to show it.
