Dolly Madison
The items shown are the "Spooner" and on the right is a "Novelty Bowl".
The bowl is shown upside down so you can see the Dolly Madison
pattern stretched out of shape. The bowl shape is one of the most difficult
pieces to identify because you have to imagine the pattern stretched out of shape
and be able to visualize the pattern upside down. The two virtical ribs are clearly visible
on either side of the floral design. It was made from the bottom of the Covered Sugar Bowl.
This bowl with the "Three in One" crimp is not found too often. There is not much ever
mentioned about this Jefferson Glass pattern. Probably because it's very plain and doesn't
have much going for it. But I can attest to the fact that it's very hard to find and well worth collecting.
