New York (Shell) or (Beaded Shell)

The New York pattern was originally made by Dugan. A company
by the name of Mosser has acquired several of the old molds and is currently
reproducing this popular pattern in large quantities. Another company by the name of
Rosso has been distributing glass to "so called" Antique dealers, flea market
dealers, and Auctioneers for over 30 years now. This particular pattern is currently being
made in Blue, White, Green, and Vaseline Opalescent. Items made are the "Cake Plate",
the "Water Set" (pitcher and tumblers), "Berry Set" (large and small berry bowls), and the
4 piece "Table Set" (sugar, creamer, spooner, butter). These pieces may have a raised
block letter M pressed in the glass or they may have a Mosser label
somewhere on the piece. I see these pieces listed on the internet now by dealers who
are charging way too much money for them. They've purchased them thinking they are old
and then they mark them up and try to sell them as Antique Glass, or they've purchased
them from Rosso knowing full well they are new, and then try to fool the public into thinking
they are old. I am not trying to discredit the items themselves. They are what they are, and
they are quite beautiful and well made. But they are not old and should not command high
prices. The items shown are the "Water Set" and the "Table Set". Interestingly, Dugan
never made a Cake Stand. Beware when buying.

Note: Notice the finials of the covers of the Sugar Bowl and the Butter Dish are Opalescent
as are the feet. On the older and original pieces in this pattern, the finials and feet were never Opalescent.
