The item shown is the handled Basket. For many years this Basket was
thought to be made by Northwood because the same pattern was found on
Northwood's Town Pump and Trough. It is known that Mold Carving Companies
would carve similar patterned molds for different glass companies. This is probably the case for
this Jefferson pattern # 87. On the bottom of the Basket, there may be the words
Patent Applied For pressed in the glass. The words "Patented 1902" have
have also been found pressed in the glass. This basket is shown in the
early Jefferson Glass Catelog below.
