Meander
In 1906 this shape was advertised two different ways. In a Jefferson catelog page
it's shown as a Card Receiver and in a Butler Brothers catelog page it's shown
as a Salad Dish. Often times marketing catelogs would offer an item for as many
different uses they could in order to increase sales. As pretty as this pattern is
it could be used for anything. On the right is the shape that was called a Nut Dish
and it is harder to find than the Card Receiver.

Note: This is another pattern that Northwood acquired from the Jefferson Glass Company
around 1907. Northwood used this pattern as an exterior pattern for some of their Carnival
Glass items produced beginning around 1909. Plain Opalescent colors in this pattern were
made by Jefferson. The Jefferson ad below is provenance as both pieces shown here are
illustrated in the ad.
